The delay, the diaries, and the 12 October 2026 release

The release moved, in the Steam community posts, from 14 July 2026 to an unnamed day in the third quarter, then to 12 October 2026. On 12 October the community channel said the game was out. The next day, 13 October 2026, a Steam player-count reading was 265 people in game. That is one reading, not a trend.
How the date changed
- 17 June 2026: a community post sets the release for 14 July.
- 3 July 2026: a community post postpones it to the third quarter after further testing.
- 17 September 2026: a community post names 12 October.
- 12 October 2026: a community post says Battleplan is out.
A PlayGround.ru item in the same 12 October feed also ties the slip to 14 July 2026, and it says the extra time went into serious bugs and into polishing the plan-drawing. The 3 July community post itself talks about further testing and places to improve, and it does not use that bug wording. The two accounts are both in the feed. They are not merged here into one official cause.
Dated items in the news feed
Times below are the UTC dates on the 20 news items read on 13 October 2026. Diary mechanics that affect play are written up on How to play. This list keeps the date, the title, and the limit of what the stored text contains.
- Dev Diary #4, Supply
A community post on supply. Companies track ammunition, fuel, and food. The mechanics are explained on the how-to-play page.
- Battleplan at Slitherine Next
A community post pointing at the publisher's annual showcase and saying Battleplan would be part of it. The stored text does not add a release date.
- A demo window for Steam Next Fest
A community post says a free demo would be available during Steam Next Fest from 23 February to 2 March.

A community post on minefields. The stored excerpt stops before a full capture rule. What it does say is on the how-to-play page.

A community post invites players into the demo and describes the role as a general who draws plans while officers carry them out.
- Demo patch v0.8.8
After Next Fest, a community post releases demo patch v0.8.8. The stored notes raise the default camera pan speed, add a tutorial to the pre-mission screen, and say cut-off and out-of-supply units lose morale and then take attrition from surrendering. The notes are cut off after that.
- Dev Diary #7, Playing as the Germans
The title and opening say a cleared mission can be replayed as the Germans with different objectives. Only an excerpt is in hand. The limit of that excerpt is on the how-to-play page.
- Checkpoint live-event recap
A community post points to a recording of a development update from the day before. The post text in hand does not summarize the stream.
- Dev Diary #8, Army Constructor
A community post on creating an officer and a corps, and on recruiting from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. The divisions section is cut off.
- Dev Diary #9, Zone Orders
A community post on an optional zone order alongside timeline orders. The stored text stops in the tactics section.

- Release delayed to the third quarter
A community post says further testing found places to improve, and postpones the release to the third quarter. It does not name a new day.

A community post says the extra time was used to address the issues from the delay, and that the game launches on 12 October.
- Is Battleplan for you?
A community post says the game is not a grand strategy game and that it asks for operational thinking. The stored text stops after that distinction, so the rest of its feature list is not here.
- Livestream invitation
A community post invites players to a livestream on 12 October at 16:00 CEST, four days before launch as counted in that post.
- Battleplan is Out Now
The community announcement says the game is out and points players at drawing plans on the map, multi-stage offensives, and orders moving down the chain of command. It also points at a launch livestream. This guide does not describe the stream.
- Rock, Paper, Shotgun
A launch-day article in the news feed about drawing the front on a paper-style map built from survey data. The feed includes the opening of the article and not a review score.
- PlayGround.ru
A launch-day item in the feed reports a PC premiere, names Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, and says the release had moved from 14 July 2026. It gives a price of 1500 rubles for the Russian segment and says there is an official Russian text translation. The Russian-language body of that item is not reproduced here.
The store page also lists two trailers, Gameplay Trailer - Battleplan Out Now and Battleplan | Out On October 12th. Their footage is not described here. Reception on the day after release is on the reviews page.
